The Hidden Guinness Tipping Advert

The hidden Guinness advert has been found. After a week and a half of waiting, an email clue was sent last night that enabled people to finish the puzzle. I doubt I was the first to find the advert so I don’t hold out any great hope of winning the golden domino, but it was a fun pursuit.

I think this is a really clever way to generate buzz and free advertising. This sort of thing has been done a lot for movies and is now catching on more for consumer products. I know Sarah Jessica Parker’s perfume also has a game online with a prize at the end and I’m sure there are others. I’d like to see more of these.

Cheers to Guinness and AMV BBDO for creating a fun diversion. The ad at the end is nice too, although if you haven’t played the game it might seem a bit random. I don’t know if it works as well as a stand alone advert, but it is still quite good and is in keeping with the “good things come to those who wait” campaign.

The advert will be on TV tonight, I believe. For those who can’t wait, here it is on YouTube.

Excellent, very nice video. Guiness is really learning, but it will still take some time before they reach Apple’s level in my opinion (sorry Luke)
